Archived Webinar: How to Reduce Compressed Air Waste

This on demand webinar covers low- and no-cost strategies that can provide immediate savings for a compressed air system as well as other strategies that provide ongoing savings opportunities. Watch this webinar to learn the benefits of adding a leak detection strategy to a plant; pressure control tips; the key elements of a worthwhile compressed air audit; the differences between unit and system controls; and how to select a system master controller.

Key Take-Aways :

  • Discover the impact of pressure on system efficiency
  • Understand the differences between the three methods of leak detection
  • Learn what to look for in a competent compressed air auditor
  • Discover the information you can learn from an audit chart
  • Understand the differences between unit and system controls

Archived Webinar: Compressed Air Strategies

This webcast begins with a presentation on principles of compressed air efficiency by Ron Marshall of Compressed Air Challenge. Ron will discuss the effects of pressure on leaks, compressed air-powered equipment, and compressor power, as well as the importance of awareness training. This will be followed by an analysis of the causes of high pressure such as piping loss, poor components with high differential, and higher than desired flows due to production and leaks, as well as options for remedying them.

The webcast continues with a discussion on how to cut compressed air waste with leak detection, presented by Werner Rauer, Product Manager, Rotary Screw Compressors with Kaeser Compressors, Inc. Eliminating compressed air leaks can add 25-30% back into your compressed air supply yet many plants struggle with executing leak detection and repair programs. In his presentation Werner will discuss how piping materials affect leaks, how to calculate the annual cost of a leak, methods of leak detection, and how to implement a leak repair strategy to consider and how to know.

Archived Webinar: Compressed Air

Poor air compressor efficiency is costing industrial customers across the world millions of dollars in lost profits.  Even if you have purchased premium efficiency air compressors, you may not be aware that the way you run them can have a big effect on system efficiency and system operating costs.  This on-demand discusses compressor energy efficiency and some of the common causes of poor specific power, or the “gas mileage” rating of a compressor.  Some suggested efficiency measures will be discussed that industrial users can use to reduce their operating costs and save.

Additional Training Resources

Having solid foundation in and understanding the science of compressed air helps ensure effective, efficient and reliable compressed air usage. In addition to our interactive training presentations and our own factory-based distributor training programs, Kaeser also recommends the following sources for training in compressed air basics and fundamental system knowledge.

CAGI SmartSite

The Compressed Air and Gas Institute (CAGI) has created the CAGI SmartSite - an online learning center dedicated to the fundamentals of efficient compressed air usage.  Users can register for a variety of topics including:

  • Compressed Air Basics
  • Types of Compressors
  • Capacity Controls
  • Distribution Systems
  • Controlling Wastes
  • Air Treatment
  • Compressor Installation & Air System Maintenance

Member, Compressed Air & Gas Institute (CAGI)

Compressed Air Challenge

The Compressed Air Challenge is a voluntary collaboration of industrial users; manufacturers, distributors and their associations; consultants; state research and development agencies; energy efficiency organizations; and utilities. This group has one purpose in mind - helping endusers enjoy the benefits of improved performance in compressed air systems.

The CAC Level I and II compressed air training sessions are sought by manufacturers and end-users alike and are recognized industry-wide as the standard for air system education. These sessions are led by compressed air experts who are dedicated to providing strategies that can be immediately implemented in virtually any air system.
